NEWSLETTER Dear all,
Workshop Seminar
The seminar at The Workshop took place today and what a resounding success it was. The day was set up for all those interested in the new fashion courses soon to be available at The Workshop and gave designers the opportunity to meet with the trainers of CAD/CAM software Vetigraph and SpeedStep. Guest speaker Karen Radley, leading entrepreneur and expert of the fashion industry, also gave some fantastic advice and provided an informal discussion on any burning questions the designers had regarding their own businesses. After the talks Open Surgery began where one to one mentoring sessions with the experts were available. Overall the participants found the day extremely beneficial and will now set them in good stead for the future. As well as the seminar Martin Tucker, Regeneration Manager, and Juneed Asad, Business and Enterprise Manager, from Haringey Council also visited The Workshop to review the services available.

Root Ginger Exhibition
FashionCapital.co.uk are ready to cover a unique and exciting exhibition at the Idea Generation Gallery on 17th February to view a presentation ofselected works from the book Root Ginger: A Study of Red Hair by the photographer Jenny Wicks.
An exhibition, book and film project, Root Ginger is an exploration of a genetic trait that is most common in Scotland and Ireland but is scattered around the world….
"I was originally inspired by two of my brother's children who have red hair. The book is a tribute to people with hair this colour but it is also an investigation into the genetic lottery that we all play. Most people are aware the ginger hair gene has a recessive characteristic, which is also true for cystic fibrosis, both genes run through my family".

Retail News
As the weather both reflects the state of our floundering economy whilst disrupting thousands of journeys to work earlier this week, the majority of London grinded to a complete halt only pushing the UK into further economic downturn. With 6.4 million London workers, that's a fifth of the nations working population, finding themselves snowed under and forced to stay at home on Monday, the British economy saw an estimated £1.2billion blow. With a further down sprinkle of similar magnitude expected to cause more havoc later this week, please prepare for the worst and keep your online activity thriving to avoid the full impact again.
