Be Business Ready for 2011

The Workshops to help up-and-coming designers be ‘Business Ready’ are filling up fast with all four almost fully booked now!

The workshops run by Nigel Rust are aimed at new and emerging fashion designers who are either just starting out or even experienced designers who just want to be more business savvy and improve the efficiency and profitability of their business.

They are designed to be practical – giving you real industrial tools of the trade to help you manage your business as well as an understanding of the principles behind them.

Each Workshop will run for 5 hours starting at 9.30 a.m. One-to-one surgeries will be held at the end of each workshop and you can pre book a unique surgery prior to workshop commencing.

Title: How Rich Are You Going To Be?

Topics:

  1. Forecasting/Budgeting – Why bother to forecast? Tips on how to forecast and how to make good use of a variable forecast.
  2. Costing/Pricing – How to pitch your price. Are you going to recover your costs?
  3. Break Even Point – How much do you need to sell to start making money? How much money will you make as your sales increase? How will your pricing decision affect the answer to these questions? This section will give you an easy-to-use method of working this out – a tool that will be very useful in helping you take sound business decisions.
  4. More about Cash Flow – Making sure you get paid on time.

Fashion Enter’s How to Succeed in Fashion today with Real Industry Advice– 16th November

The purpose of these seminars is to enable new and existing members to fully understand all the services available to them and at the same time meet with industry experts speaking on a range of subjects from production to marketing to general business support.

With the increase in membership costs this seminar is free for all new members and at a cost of £150 plus vat for non members. If you then however decide to become a member with us after the seminar you will just need to pay the remaining balance to total the payment of £399 plus vat for your yearly membership.

The next seminar is scheduled for 16th November and will take place at The Workshop.

How to Exhibit

This all day seminar will also include a workshop on How to Exhibit for all those designers showcasing at Clothes Show Live. Email jenni@fashion-enter.com to express your interest.


CAD/CAM

The next CAD/CAM course is set to take place at The Workshop on 22nd November for 5 days.

The Veti-Graph CAD/CAM is perfect for those who are interested in learning or improving their electronic pattern making skills, thus saving designers valuable time and money!

Free business support – one space left!

After the huge success of the Women in Work funded programme with Skillset FashionCapital is delighted to announce further spaces are now available! You must be a woman, living in England and working within the clothing and textiles sector. If approved by Skillset you will receive funding for business support with FashionCapital including free membership, attendance to the Fashion Enter’s How to succeed in Fashion Today seminar and the Cad/Cam course. Profile at Clothes Show Live

Each designer exhibiting under the FC boutique at Clothes Show Live will be put forward for the Profile catwalk show which takes place each day on the Image Catwalk at the event. This is seen by hundreds of thousands of consumers all looking to spend their hard earned cash!

Attention Designers – we are now in the selection process for Profile and are looking for the 10 very best designer collections to take to the catwalk! Each designer will have 6 complete outfits in each scene. If you have not already please email jenni@fashion-enter.com your look book or a selection of images you think have potential for the catwalk! The final decision will be announced in next week’s newswire!

FashionCapital Photography Services

Due to high demand FashionCapital are reinstating the Photographic Services once run from the Croydon Boutique.

Photo shoots can be incredibly expensive but FashionCapital offer a lower priced alternative.

Shoots can be arranged in a studio space or on location, a photographer is provided as are Models and hair & make up services.

The photographs will be taken and styled by Jemima Daisy, FashionCapital’s very own in-house photographer who started her photography career at just 15.

The price of the shoot depends on the amount of time spent on the shoot and location.

Fashion Apprenticeship Launch Event: 8th December

To celebrate the launch of the Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeship scheduled to commence this January with the first cohort of 15 London based apprentices, Fashion Enter and CHENEL are hosting an Open Day at the Workshop.

This Open Day aims to educate both employers and apprentices alike regarding the exponential benefits offered to both parties for engaging in this groundbreaking new qualification integrating industry into education.

A Fabulous Event…. Coming Soon…”Designers Lounge”

Designers Lounge will be launched this December with celebrity guests, stylists, buyers and media present.  This will be a high profiled event taking place at a top London nightclub with a private catwalk show to start with and the chance for designers garments to be purchased or ordered on the night just before the Designers lounge networking after party starts.

This will be a monthly event and each month will include 6 designer spaces on the catwalk and additional designers on rotation with 1 guest speaker in between.
If you are a designer and feel you are ready to be included in this event please email syreeta@fashioncapital.co.uk each space will cost £100 and will include models, hair, make up and the management of your garments at the event.

Fashion Capital will represent you on the night and you are more than welcome to attend also. Once payment is received you can then discuss mood boards for models who will be modelling your clothes but this will be done nearer the time.
