Hi All,
Since we announced that Profile is back we’ve been inundated with requests. The event has proven to be a fantastic showcase for up-and-coming design talent specializing in womenswear, menswear and accessories. The fashion show, exhibition and competition all rolled into one is scheduled to take place on the 5th & 6th November. Online application forms will be available on www.fashioncapital.co.uk shortly.
As a result of last weeks BBC interview with Director Jenny Holloway the traffic on FashionCapital has been going through the roof. Thankfully Jenny was totally relaxed in front of the camera; all that public speaking has put her in good stead. Next up Jenny has been invited as a guest speaker at the Young Enterprise Finals on the 11th May – a fantastic educational initiative. www.young-enterprise.org.uk

For young women who are looking for trendy, comfortable clothes for Spring/Summer 07’, ‘shyamoki‘ is a line of high fashion women’s wear that will make you feel funky and different because the composition of latest trends together with ethnic handicrafts, embroidery and fabric manipulation while using unusual materials for surface ornamentation creates a unique colourful look.
In addition, ‘shyamoki’ works directly with an Indian based non-profit organisation known as ‘Aim’ which helps and supports all original folk and tribal art & crafts from villages in India. All the money spent for fabric development and embroidery for ‘shyamoki’ goes directly to the workers in these deprived rural areas and hence is a significant contributor to the sustainability of these rare arts.

Prices range from £60 – £120

The Kate Moss TopShop launch has been dominating the news in fashion this week. While some have not been so kind about the collection you have to admire TopShop for putting on such a slick PR and marketing operation. Elsewhere on FashionCapital Christa Catharina Muller has been checking out the latest exhibition at the V&A – New York Fashion Now and former FC columnist Ellen Grace Jones tells us about her latest project – Plastique Magazine which is on sale now.

Last but not least a big thank-you to photographer Hugh O’Malley, who captured all the show action from the fashion networking event Kyzar Chic last week. The launch saw collections from Couture Clubbing and Jerry Ribbon and is set to feature Italian Design House SADO for its next installment.
