Graduate Fashion Week
Graduate Fashion Week kicks off this weekend and each year FashionCapital takes a stand to ensure students and graduates are given that all important advice and support to succeed in fashion today.
This year we will be awarding 5 graduates with a free annual membership to FashionCapital worth over £200 each. This will enable them to conduct one to one mentoring sessions, stock their collection in our boutiques, create a free online boutique, be represented at The Showroom, use The Workshop services at a discounted rate and access member’s only areas of the website.

After the success of the AW09 Jacket Project, ASOS.com and Fashion Enter are coming together to create another fashion forward and inspirational range, this time based on Capes.
The project is aimed at giving a platform to new Independent Fashion Designers to showcase their talent.

Clothes Show London
There is now just one month till Clothes Show London where designers under the FashionCapital boutique umbrella will have the opportunity to sell and showcase to hundreds of thousands of consumers. The FC boutique stands are situated next to Carnaby Street in Earls Court 2 stands FB1 – FB20. We are now putting our designers forward for the main fashion theatre catwalk show which will take place every day at the event.

The Miami Swim Show
This summer FashionCapital is heading stateside and are looking to take at least 10 lucky designers collections with them!
The Miami Swim Show is the largest in the US. Many established American designers showcase there and we want to add our fabulous English designs to their ranks.
The Swim Show not only covers swim wear but also casual autumn/winter resort wear.
During this week it is also Miami Market Week, another chance for FashionCapital to meet with buyers from around the globe.

Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeships
FashionCapital has recently joined forces with UK Fashion and Textile Association, as well as many other brands, to back the Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeships. It is also supported by the National Apprenticeship Service and Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for Creative Media.
The new London Fashion Apprenticeship programme will work alongside employers delivering garment construction and technical skills, moving onto specialist training at level 3, with applications of pattern making, grading, sampling and production.
Free Business Support for Women in Work
Over the last few works women living in England and working in the clothing and textiles sector have been applying for free business support and training with FashionCapital through the Skillset Women in Work programme.
Last Wednesday Fashion Enter held an all day seminar at the Rootstein Hopkins space at LCF on every aspect of starting your own business and owning a label. A series of guest speakers exclusively revealed their industry expertise on a variety of subjects ranging from manufacturing to copyright and protecting your design. Review the seminar

The Collection – looking for Menswear Designers!
The Collection in association with Edge Models and FashionCapital is set to make a return and we are now looking for designers to be considered.
The Collection is all about promoting fresh talent. The venue will be one of London’s top nightclubs and the guest list will be a host of press, buyers, stylists and London’s fashionistas!
We are looking for 6 cutting edge designers to showcase their collections. You will be featured on all pre event and post event publicity, have up to 10 complete outfits in the show and receive professional images for your portfolio afterwards.

Oak Lodge
Oak Lodge year 4 students embarked on an exciting design competition in a series of workshops given by Fashion Enter taking the talented youngsters through generic business and marketing models in order to create a saleable collection and strong brand. Voters to contribute to the win of their favourite design sent ratings from as further afield as America and Brazil with the skilled year 4 students captivating our users attention from far and wide. The entire year group produced incredibly impressive work throughout the project; however a winner had to be selected via the online voting system.
Emily Poomering created this fabulous commercial dress for young women to wear in the summer and the winning prize is to have it made at the Workshop and presented back to Emily in the school assembly shortly. The local newspaper is covering the story, so watch this space for the birth of a fashion design star.
