Hanging it all together for the fashion industry

NEWSLETTER

Sorry the newswire is a day late…..I was working with the WCTA, our partners for Profile 6, for the last two days in sunny Wales. A highly productive meeting it was too. To have the WCTA provide a cash prize of £3,000 for the Huw Williams Tribute Award for Innovation is a real honour. Grateful thanks is extended to Virginia, Adrian and Glenda.

The judging panel was delighted with the impressive calibre of designer collections showcased…well done to you all. It was a horrendous decision to have to select just 80 collections from near on 175 applications …one of the worst we have had to encounter with the Profile event. All letters were sent out last Friday evening confirming the selected designers across ladieswear, menswear and accessories. We are pleased to announce that the following designers were successful…

To those designers that were not selected we are genuinely sorry but please apply next season. The standards across all three markets were exceptionally high as Isabella Blow and Gerry DeVaux confirmed in their statements last week. The retailers were equally impressed with the designs submitted and this seasons event is set to be an absolute show stopper on September 20th and 21st at Vinopolis.

If you do want to discuss your rejected application then please call the office and speak to Tracy Robinson directly. It’s important for everyone to learn through success and failure.

We are delighted to be working with The Netherlands British Chamber  of Commerce.  We will be meeting a cross section of designers form Netherlands on 13th October with a view to also  setting up an exchange programme. Are you aspiring to open an export market for your collection in Netherlands? If so perhaps the potential exchange programme is for you. The idea is so simple. We are looking for a cross section of menswear, ladieswear and accessory designers that could link up with fellow designers in Netherlands.

The LFF will oversee the exchange that will involve selected UK designers paying for a flight to Netherlands but accommodation will be provided by the participating Netherlands Designer. During a potential five day exchange each designer shows the recipient designer the market profile, segmentation of the different markets, brokers meetings, link in to press and stylists etc. This programme is at it’s development stage so please register your potential interest now to vanessac@londonfashionforum.com .
