FashionCapital.co.uk boutique launches at Allders

Fashion Enter has recently been offered concession space in Allders and this Friday sees the official launch of the boutique entitled the FashionCapital.co.uk boutique which will showcase up and coming fashion designers.

Harold Tillman, Chairman of the British Fashion Council and owner of Allders and Jaeger will be present and also Daily Telegraph journalist Sarah Mower as well as a whole host of fresh designer talent!

Rt. Hon Stephen Timms MP to visit The Workshop

Fashion Enter is delighted to announce that the Rt. Hon Stephen Timms will be visiting The Workshop and Florentia Clothing Village on 24th July at 3.30pm.

In 2001 Stephen Timms, in his then ministerial capacity, actually launched www.fashioncapital.co.uk at our first PROFILE fashion event which was, and still is aimed at new and emerging fashion designers who are looking to bridge the gap between Graduate Fashion Week and London Fashion Week.

Clothes Show meeting 6th July

Following on the from success of the FashionCapital boutique at Clothes Show London there will a meeting on 6th July at 10.30am at The Showroom in Kingston for designers interested in showcasing at the next Clothes Show events.

Buying Director of Jaeger

On Thursday 2nd July the Buying Director of top British label Jaeger is set to visit The Workshop.

The Workshop, based in North London has been established since October 08 to provide designers and retailers with a quality based unit to supply patterns, grades, toile's, first fit samples, sealing samples and small run production. Clients include retailers such as Jaeger and asos.com as well as over 80 designer collections.

Fashion Enter and ASOS.com are teaming up to launch an exciting project to put new and independent designers in the spotlight. Designers are being called upon to create their interpretation of Autumn/Winter's hottest item, the jacket.

The leading etailer asos.com has featured Fashion Enter's The Workshop in the their monthly magazine.

In the July issue of the asos.com magazine a feature entitled Diary of a Dress follows the making of an asos Black dress from its conception in February through to creation at The Workshop.

Have you ever wanted to be a fashion designer?

Now is your chance to learn how with the Summer Uni taking place in Barking and Dagenham from 20th July – 24th July.

The four day event will hold a series of workshops and seminars on all aspects of the fashion industry ranging from how to become a fashion designer, to running your own business to fashion photography and even catwalk techniques for those budding models!

The Face of Barking and Dagenham

There is still time to apply for the East London modelling competition. The Face of Barking and Dagenham is open to all females, age 16 – 25 and must reside in the Barking and Dagenham borough.

Over the past few months Fashion Enter has been working closely with pupils from year 9 at the City Academy of Islington on understanding the fashion industry. All their hard work and creativity has culminated in each pupil designing and making their own T shirts.

CAD/CAM

The fantastic opportunity to obtain free CAD/CAM training using the Vetigraph software system for the purpose of enhancing the ease of creating patterns and grades is still open for people living/working in Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Islington and Camden. This essential course for upgrading your skills is currently being hosted at the Workshop in North London and can be utilised by individuals living/working outside the borough for £100 + VAT. If you would like to receive more information or book a place on the course please contact Emily@fashioncapital.co.uk. Each course runs from Monday to Friday 9.30am – 4pm each day.

 

Barking Abbey School

Fashion Enter visited the lovely Barking Abbey school today to host a fashion workshop and setting a project to complete over the summer. The vibrant year 10's were taught about essential generic business models to understand how to market their final product and completing the first stage of the design process by creating a series of outstanding mood boards and a brand names. The enthusiastic class will now set off to create a collection based on their mood boards and identified target market to present back to us in September maintaining the outstanding standard set by all today.

Fashion – Enter in conjunction with Xyris now bring you yet another exciting development in the education programme.

From September, based around the Fashion Enter Croydon studio and designed by the inspirational photographic professional, Rod Compton (formerly a tutor at the Royal College of Art), we are presenting a hands on photographic course for aspiring fashion photographers.

Retail News

Despite the largest drop in GDP for 50 years Asos.com effortlessly surpasses the recession with a 70 per cent increase in sales from the previous year. Sales reached an astonishing £14m in March and are expected to render over £163m by the end of the year if this standard of growth continues. The UK GDP dropped by 4.9 per cent totalling £17.5billion decrease from the previous year, however M&S are also seeing a more positive in recent sales Sir Stuart Rose reports.
