The recipient of the coveted Merit Award for SS18 is artistic Norwegian brand EDDA. Edda Gimnes, the designer behind the eponymous label, has been impressing the industry internationally and will showcase her Spring/Summer 18 collection with Fashion Scout this September. 

Selected from hundreds of applicants, Edda’s larger-than-life aesthetic greatly impressed this season’s selection panel. In winning this season’s Merit Award, Edda will receive a fully sponsored presentation during London Fashion Week with space to host press and buyers. She follows in the successful footsteps of past winners including; Eudon Choi, Phoebe English, David Koma, Roberts|Wood, Han Wen, Xiao Li and AW17 winner Katie Ann McGuigan.

On receiving the Merit Award she said: “The Merit Award is an amazing initiative to show support for up and coming designers, as getting recognition and guidance is incredibly important at an early stage. It is such an honour to receive this Award and I am so thrilled to show my new SS18 collection with Fashion Scout this September. For me the merit award makes it possible for me to continue building my brand.”

Designers from all over the globe are set to showcase their collections from Rocky Star to Billie Jacobina, the schedule comprises of a broad range of creative variety. Along with the Merit Award Winner, 4 One’s to Watch have been announced, this season they are; NEO Design, Triinu Pungits, Ji Won Choi and Starsica, the line-up is set to be the most international yet, with roots from all over the globe, including New York, Estonia, South Korea and Serbia.
