A New Fashion Capital Has Been Named

According to the Global Fashion Capital Index’s tenth annual survey, the city has lost its title, sliding down into third place.

The annual survey has revealed the two cities that beat London to the title were Paris, in second place and New York taking the crown, winning the title by a 0.05 difference. To no surprise Paris also took the title of fashion capital for Haute Couture, with a new entry, Los Angeles coming in fourth place. 

Bekka Payack, fashion director at Global Language commented on this year’s results, “New York City has earned its Top Global Fashion Capital ranking through its disciplined, methodical yet creative approach to its fashion industry.” Clearly happy with the results, the New York based director went on to say the rankings truely demonstrate the creative energy and emerging fashion talent world-wide.

The winners are chosen by a monitor service, carried out by the Global Language over the period of a year to track fashion-related words and phrases on the internet to over 250,000 news outlets and sites.
