LCF is Relocating East

12-06-2016
As part of the University of the Arts London (UAL) relocation to the Olympic Park Stratford, London College of Fashion is set to move. The collage will move to Stratford’s Olympicopolis arts hub. East London is now booming with fresh designers and the collage hopes to boost East London’s economy as well as revamping fashion that surrounds Stratford.
Additional facilities will be catered to the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) and Sadler’s Well to work alongside the new campuses of UAL and LCF. There are hopeful aspects to the move including the bringing together of 5000 fashion members and 500 staff members all in one location.
Building is set to start in 2018 and is designed by Allies and Morrison. Part of the designs is a glass roof which was inspired my Huddersfield fabric mills. Professor Frances Corner, head of college at LCF and pro-vice chancellor of UAL, said at the opening of LCF’s BA16 exhibition: “There are lots of designers based around this area, so we have the chance to not only refashion East London but to make a really significant economic contribution. And as part of that we will also discuss not only how we connect to the rest of the UK, but how we connect to the rest of Europe and the world.”
