Face of Barking & Dagenham chosenLebo Diseko The competition was tough but a finally a winner has been found, and the Face of Barking & Dagenham has been chosen.  Winner Samantha Wright beat off 60 finalists to win a modelling contract with Mahogany models, and a trip to the Big Apple to take part in New York Fashion Week. 
Winner Samantha Wright Samantha will also get to learn the ins and outs of the fashion industry, with tips on modelling from professionals. She’ll also get to go to self enhancement workshops and get help writing CV’s and advice on interviewing techniques. 
Runner up Yasmeen Robinson And the judges were so impressed with the talent that they awarded an extra modelling contract to a lucky finalist. Yasmin Robinson said: “I want to thank the judges for the best experience of my life.” The competition was run by not-for-profit organisation FashionCapital. Organiser Jenni Holloway told me the aim was to support and encourage local talent, and inspire confidence amongst local youngsters.  FashionCapital will also be taking a group of young British designers with them to the Big Apple, as part of the Profile Fashion event. It’s a chance to showcase cutting edge, young London designers.
