The Face of Croydon – Formal Statement
26-06-2008
Ms Whittle has confirmed in writing that she was residing at the Thornton Heath address when she applied for the competition Face of Croydon. The contents of the email are private and confidential and will remain so. All judges have been alerted to the allegations and all are in agreement that Ms Whittle is to retain her winning position and will receive a modelling contract with Rah Agency, a trip to New York City courtesy of Centrale Shopping Centre for our fashion show Profile in New York 10th and 11th September a make over with international make up artist Iain Burton Legge, entrance to the Divinity Model's Competition Model Evolution 2008 with Fashion TV and a new wardrobe from Fashion Enter's boutique in Centrale.
Jenny Holloway, Director, commented, "This is the second year we have run the Face of Croydon and its been an outright success. We pride ourselves on being an energetic young company that helps young people of Croydon succeed in all aspects of fashion today. Our company has a not for profit status and all our work is totally transparent. We have researched the application by Ms Whittle and we are confident now that she was eligible to apply.
The further allegation that there were irregularities due to Sherine Whittle's involvement (Kym Whittle's sister), in Face of Croydon have been completely dismissed. The Face of Croydon is not a BID, Croydon Business or Croydon Enterprise event. It is a Fashion Enter event and the only liaison we have had with Sherine Whittle was with the organisation of Ashley MacKenzie attending and singing at both the semi finals and finals event. Sherine was a true professional during this time and did not even alert us to her sisters application. The association with BID was to align our event with the Croydon Fashion Festival for maximum impact for Croydon; a strategy that worked extremely well for all concerned..
I would personally like to wish the two winners, Kym Whittle and Sally Macdonald, the People's Choice, sincere congratulations and success in their future career; both are worthy winners indeed. The matter is now closed".
There was strict criteria for both the entrance to the Face of Croydon competition and also the judges benchmarks for the two winners which included character, personality, catwalk factor, face, hair, deportment, potential and more besides. The judges took time to deliberate the winners and there was further confirmation of the winners success from the voting on line at https://www.fashioncapital.co.uk/ – the UK's leading fashion portal for the industry.
