Selfridges Expands with £300 Million Revamp
The renovation is set to be the biggest investment made by the company so far, expanding the floorspace by 10% to 580,000 square feet. The expansion is being made possible by building over the delivery area, relocating this area to another part of the expansion – a takeover of a nearby building space.
The flagship store will also cater a new entrance into the store, offering entrance on Duke Street. The accessories section of the store will become the largest accessories destination in the world, also seeing the handbag section double in size; offering a wider range of labels, both high street and highend, catering for both men and women.
Recently being named the ‘Best department store in the world’ for the third consecutive year, the expansion is clearly a bid to make Selfridges the number one shopping destination for both luxury and high street brands.
Galen Weston, commented on the expansion; “In the last 10 years Selfridges has grown from strength to strength. This redevelopment is part of our commitment across our businesses to provide leading luxury shopping experiences for our customers around the world.”
