UEL Tutors take the CPPD Workshop

25-09-2015
Following the success of the garment life cycle workshops with New Look employees, Senior Lecturer for D&E Kate Hufton at UEL thought a group of trainee design tutors could also benefit highly from the unique insight into the world of garment manufacturing.
12 trainee tutors attended the workshop and were taken through a step by step guide of the complete process of manufacturing a garment from initial idea to delivery of finished goods.
The feedback was fantastic and even those that had previous fashion experience in manufacturing felt they had learnt loads and would definitely recommend this a trip for their students.
Here are just a few comments received:
“I have refreshed my knowledge of the fashion production industry, however the information received today was so in depth that I have learnt more about the step by step processes. Really great information and the tour / SMETA task was really helpful” Chelsea – Trainee Tutor
“Excellent experience, really transparent and open about process from start to finish” Billie – Trainee Tutor
“Very interesting – fantastic delivery of information and particularly good at conveying technical information simply” Nancy – Trainee Textiles Tutor
“I have learnt how pricing is achieved and timings for each job operation. Very good and informative” Michelle – Trainee D&T Tutor
Following the seminar we were thrilled to receive this thank you card in the post from the UEL tutors –
We look forward to welcoming more design tutors to The Factory.
