Dear all,

The Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

FashionCapital is delighted to announce they will be assisting Bromley Council with its celebrations for Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee visit to the Borough taking place in May this year.  This is a huge honour to be a part of this high profile event and over the next few weeks will be revealing all so watch this space!

Can you Predict the Future of Fashion?

As part of Her Majesty’s visit to the Borough of Bromley, FashionCapital has launched a fantastic competition for you to get creative! The competition will culminate in a large scale dynamic exhibition and the chance for the winners to earn total prize money of £500 and to meet Her Majesty!

It’s easy! All you have to do is predict the Future of Fashion. We are looking for original and inspiring illustrations depicting what you think the future of fashion will look like. Each illustration can be created in a media of your choice. At this stage simply send your illustration to info@fashioncapital.co.uk to enter the competition, stating your name, age and email address.

The top five entries will then be enlarged to create an impressive installation illustrating ‘The Future of Fashion’ for Her Majesty’s visit to the Borough of Bromley this May.

The Fashion Studio press day

On Tuesday 13th March, the Fashion Studio at The University of East London will be hosting a press day focusing on the importance of British Manufacturing. Britain is a hive of activity this year and the press has been rife with features regarding the importance of a ‘Made in Britain’ label.

Between the hours of 10am-4pm, reporters from Drapers, WGSN and The London Evening Standard and a selection of bloggers, will be able to see British garment manufacturing in action by our talented machinists and have the opportunity to interview Studio Manager and Senior Pattern cutter Desiree Koster, who has previously worked for Biba and Bruce Oldfield. Fashion Enter Director, Jenny Holloway, will be on hand to answer any questions about the company and how Fashion Enter is helping keep garment manufacturing in Britain. Designers that work and manufacture with FashionCapital, will also be available to talk about why they have decided to manufacture in Britain.

Fashion Enter believe that manufacturing is a part of what makes Britain great and we will work hard to keep it that way!

This Saturday we have collaborated with Bath Uni’s ‘Fashion Society’ and the ‘African and Caribbean Society’ to create a catwalk show and evening entitled ‘Heritage’. The models came in for their fitting last Sunday and the collection of strong prints, deep pinks and purples looked stunning. Good luck with the show and no doubt we’ll be posting up images next week.

Meet Offset Warehouse, the business that bridges the gap for fashion designers to become more “green”!

Franka Sozzani, Editor-in-chief of Italian Vogue said herself: “There’s something new for 2012 … clothes will have to submit to new standards: eco-friendliness, sustainability and fair trade”.  But how to make this transition?  We talked Offset Warehouse, the online hub for ethical fashion designers, to find out how they can help bridge the eco gap for fashion designers on every level.

In 2010, http://www.offsetwarehouse.com became the first online business of its kind to bring together everything needed to both create ethical clothing & interiors, and buy them. The online portal brings together an ethical fabric & haberdashery shop, access to fashion manufacturing services through an ethical directory and a plethora of resources, before finally selling fashion-forward and affordable, finished eco-garments in an eco boutique.

By providing access to all the information and products needed to be ethical in the world of fashion and design, serving both retail and wholesale needs, it is believed that Offset Warehouse is the only UK online space to make ethical production in fashion and interiors easy.

Through Offset Warehouse, the prospect of creating or buying ethical fashion and interiors is an accessible goal for all designers. Moreover, by showing designers and businesses that it is possible to be ethical without compromising on the final product, we hope that Offset Warehouse will encourage more ethical production in the fashion and interiors industry as a whole.
