Each designer will be giving a short presentation and then asked questions about their design by the leading industry experts from The Times, Cosmopolitan, Drapers Record, ITV, BrandAlley and FashionCapital. Profile – pre selection day – 10th August 2011

Attention designers! Entries for the Profile fashion event on 10th November have been coming in thick and fast and we are delighted to see such a high calibre of new and emerging talent! The event will showcase the hottest, undiscovered designers to emerge from the London fashion scene so we really are looking for next big names in the industry!

The pre selection day for ladieswear and accessory designers will take place on 10th August where each designer will be asked to present six samples and a brief description of their label and collection to a panel of industry expert judges. Only 20 designers will be selected to go through to Profile so this really is your chance to shine! We are still taking expression of interest forms so to be put forward to the selection day please download the form here and email to jenni@fashion-enter.com. Further details to follow.

New Designer at Debenhams – pre selection day – 9th August 2011

The pre selection day for the menswear competition with Debenhams has now been confirmed as 9th August where designers will be asked to present samples to a panel of judges at the Debenhams head office. On the panel will be Julian Fuller, Menswear Design Manager for Debenhams.

This is an exciting collaboration with Debenhams and will mean that two menswear designers will be selected to showcase at the Profile fashion event and preview a small eight piece collection at two Debenhams stores!

Julian Fuller commented: “Debenhams is the originator of designer collections on the high street and our support for new and emerging talent demonstrates our commitment to developing affordable, unique collections for our customers.

We are proud to work with PROFILE. The show and work of Fashion Enter is integral to developing new talent and bringing it directly to the British high street. “

The Fashion Studio

FashionCapital.co.uk and UEL are delighted to announce a new state of the art design and manufacturing facility entitled The Fashion Studio

Based at the Knowledge Dock at UEL campus (Cyprus station on DLR) the 8000 square foot unit will enable educational workshops and seminars, sapling and toiling and production runs of up to 5000 units a week

Jennifer Holloway commented. The Fashion Studio is the new concept for the Fashion Industry today. By combining with the outstanding team at UEL, which also includes the Fab Lab service, the Fashion Studio can offer all design and production needs to become London’s manufacturing Centre of Excellence 

UEL has been working on the new innovative concept for over a year now with FashionCapital and the partnership synergistically creates a learning environment for fashion today. 

Using all new equipment the centre will boast a 17m cutting table, speciality machines for all types of trimming and top end designer work and we will have a computer suite with 15 pcs and Apple Macs equipped with the latest software design packages
By working with FashionCapital we can combine industry experience with educational knowledge transfer – its a new era for fashion

FashionCapital has also recently won the Fashion and Textile Apprenticeship programme which will also be using the Fashion Studio facilities opening the programme further into the East of London

 

Clothes Show Live – 2nd – 7th December 2011

Clothes Show Live, the UK’s largest fashion and beauty event, returns to Birmingham’s NEC from 2-7 December 2011, with one main aim: to Keep Fashion Live. As well as being a spectacular shopping experience, with a choice of over 500 leading fashion and beauty brands, this year’s show enforces the notion that fashion is a shared, interactive experience not just a quick sprint around the high street on a Saturday morning. From live catwalk shows, live performances and live demonstration, Clothes Show Live is back with a bang.

New to the boutique we have Rainbow Winters and her capsule range of printed pieces that react and change colour when exposed to sunlight or water.

For evening glamour we have exquisite dresses from Frocked de la Valliere and Danny Tang.

As well as new designs from GOAT London, Nina Bon Bina & Belles of London and not forgetting to mention our competition winner Joshua Riches; his pieces now feature in the boutique window and we have already received an order for one of his tailored coats. Check out his collection below:

We still have no news with regards to BaNES council and our business rates review, however we have received some staunch support from MP’s, Bath Spa University and Bath Chamber of Commerce so we are hoping for a positive outcome.

Other collaborative projects we have been involved with of late include an editorial shoot – ‘Gothic Alice in Wonderland’ with local photographer April Samantha Barrie, along with sample loans for FashionBeans stylist Ashley Cover and his series of shoots with photographer Adam Robertson.

Apprenticeships

The Fashion & Textiles apprenticeship now has engaged with 10 employers reaping the rewards of working with young, vibrant and talented apprentices. Not only does working with an apprentice bring a fresh new perspective to help drive your company forward, it also guarantees an additional member to your team will be with you for at least 18months. Apprentices attend classes one day a week and are learning through every aspect of the fashion industry thus accelerating their learning putting their newfound knowledge directly into practice in the work environment and hence will develop rapidly as your employee. FashionCapital.co.uk has worked with Vetigraph CAD software specialist since 1998 providing pattern training to all ages and abilities. The partnership has developed further and will be offering Beginner and Intermediate courses soon.
