Industry news

According to figures from the British Retail Consortium growth in shop prices slowed as consumer confidence decreased in may. Shop inflation is continuing to fall albeit at a slower rate of 1.8% in May compared to 2% in April despite transport inflation remaining high as petrol prices increase and international shipping up over 40% from last year. These figures reflect retailer’s aims of keeping prices as low as possible in such uncertain times to encourage consumer spending again.
