As the British High Street fashion empire wavers, the Spanish retail giant Inditex flourishes against all odds recording in underlying sales in local currencies and on a like for like basis of 12% rise full year. The Spanish fashion organisation operates leading brands including Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Pull and Bear which produced net sales of 10.4bn Euros in the year to January 31. Net income rose to 1.2bn Euros whilst gross profit increased by 11% to 5.9bn Euros with a gross margin of 56.8%. Despite the tough trading environment, Inditex continues to power through and outperform the industry with international sales representing 66% of total sales up from 62.5% last year. With the launch of its accessories chain Uterque opening 31 stores in Spain exceeding all expectations, their profitable expansion of the business remains on track for beating the global crunch.
