Final judging for the Profile 6 Catwalk takes place today….the panel is having nightmares…the calibre has never been so high from the designers and finding the right balance for the catwalk show is no easy task. We will be posting the selected designers on both FashionCapital and LFFonline tomorrow!

The final touches are now in place for THE fashion event of the season at Vinopolis 20th and 21st September PLEASE remember the VIP tickets are strictly by invitation only. However, for this season, we are organising a special designer catwalk show for the Profile 6 select 84 designers (to include designers VIP, family and friends). This will be held on Tuesday 20th at the 6.30p.m. performance.  Please liaise directly with Karen Keany from PRactice on 020 7269 9886 to confirm designer attendance and VIPs for the seating plan.

London is having a tough time with retailing – in the last six months London and the South have shown sales to be down by 3% compared to a 1% decrease nation wide. Sales in Lancashire and Scotland outperformed the total market by an increase of 5% whilst the West Country had a sales uplift of a staggering 11%.(TNS July 05). Is this really that surprising? The recent bombings in London have obviously had an adverse effect but also the ease of out of town shopping, with large car parks and the facility of all shops under one roof is certainly have a detrimental effect on the traditional high street.

Further developments are underway with the revamping of the FashionCapital site. We will shortly be re-categorising the designers on the boutique, adding in new icons on the business section including: Sales and Marketing, Production Process, Retail Directory, Finance and Accounts, Judicial Requirements, Human Resources and Export.

Also we will be creating a webring on the home page to show business organisations throughout the UK that are there to support designers….a UK first!! These developments are in work now. We have received a host of complaints on the community section from designers outside London asking where their support is from agencies similar to London Fashion Forum. We are on the case so please watch this space for an update next week.

We had three new designers opening a boutique last week on FashionCapital  so a big hello to Apizeadoo fashion, Kapadia and Fashion Vision Boutique.

I had a great chat with Nishat from the highly impressive Craven Gene label (come and marvel at their cutting edge tailoring at Profile 6!). Nishat has gone from strength to strength with her label and absolute credit to her drive and determination to succeed. She made interesting comments about the FashionCapital boutique, namely that it is an excellent form of press and pr and she has received enquires and interest as a direct result of being on the site. Make the most of the FashionCapital and have your garments showcased for free on the boutique. For further information please click here

Pompoms and beyond – By Krysty Hazell
After visiting the Tate Modern’s new exhibit on Frida Kahlo, Kyrsty Hazell was amazed by the beauty, colours and surrealism of her pieces. In fact, she was inspired so much, that she indulged in a spot of Frida-like therapy and tried out the new trend which about to blast off the cat walk and into your wardrobe-this trend being pompoms. The world’s most famous monobrow has never been so now as Kyrsty Hazell found out. [More->>]

Metrosexual – by Vikki Hassett
Whilst women will be ditching their gypsy skirts for something a little more chic and sophisticated this autumn/winter, men should consider throwing caution to the wind and opting for something a little edgier than their trusty jeans and t-shirt. Autumn/winter trends for men include slick and sexy double breasted suits, Pete Doherty-inspired “tweak chic” and 1950’s style biker gear stripped bare. [More->>]
