Hanging it all together for the fashion industry

NEWSLETTER

Thank you to all the designers applying for select Profile 5. The standard is high this season and we have been so impressed with the calibre that we are going to extend the catwalk theatre to ALL designers selected for the event. There will now be the introduction of a special parade for all designers showcasing on mannequins. The meeting held with all the heads of buyers and PR departments with Hobbs, House of Fraser, Debenhams and TopShop went so well last week that we are also now working on a special guest celebrity for the event too. Fingers crossed – we can but try!

We have also had numerous requests for trade sponsorship details regarding select Profile 5 – look no further the details are all here for you to preview. Select Profile 5 is a one day event, due to lack of availability of suitable venues for a two day event, so the fees have naturally been reduced down. We already have Jofit confirmed and also Fashion Monitor plus we have the all singing and dancing internet cafe from www.fashioncapital.co.uk complete with portal pods. No expense spared!  Please remember if you wish to come to the event you must register beforehand and bring your ticket with you. The evening gala performance, where the winning designers are announced, is restricted to ticket entry as it is now a “table event”. After the winners are announced and awards given the aftershow party commences.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ONLINE.

Emails are currently at an all time high so apologises if you are waiting for a reply. I went to Wales last week and worked with Huw Williams on the brilliant initiative Making Business Happen with a selection of designer/manufacturer companies. It was an excellent two day event, proactive and inspiring and dare I even say it – ground breaking. New leads and genuine contacts have been fostered and a report will follow on this event shortly. Many thanks for the hospitality of the Welsh Clothing and Textile Industry and the participation from such a dynamic group of individuals. The only downside is that I came back to over 550 emails so it’s taking time to go through them all. I will get there…….

Today we are off to University of East London working with fashion and textile designers on Delivery Day. This is a great way for all F.E. and H.E. institutions to have a “warts an’ all” view of what the clothing and textile industry is really about. It’s a big first step for graduates leaving college and the LFF, along with guest speakers, provide a rare insight to the ups and downs of working in various sectors of the industry including buying, design and manufacturing. Great FREE hand outs are available at the presentation including terms and conditions for trade, cutting docket information, progress sheets and many others. If any college is interested in the LFF presenting this four hour seminar please contact the office on 020 8462 1475.

The new revised LFF newsletter has gone off to the printers – what a wonderful feeling this is! It is now up to 28 pages and has new features included. Won’t say too much here – let’s see what you think when it hits down in approximately 7 working days time ready for our stand at LFW. If you are going to the LFW at the controversial new site of Battersea please come and see us. We have a shared Creative London stand with London Apparel Resource Centre (sister company) and Centre for Fashion Enterprise and we will be showcasing some of our clothing and accessory designers.

Finally, the Bluewater fashion show is a big hit! It’s our first consumer fashion event that also includes a “meet and greet the designer”. It certainly won’t be our last! We have had an excellent response from both local press and radio (free adverts in Evening Standard and on Invicta FM) and as always the Bluewater management team have been most supportive. So if you are out and about the Bluewater Kent area on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th February please meet us for a preview of true designer fashion trends at the Water Circus Bluewater (where all the restaurants are situated by the Cinema complex). Special mention here to Nalini (Bluewater Manageress) and Stephanie (new LFF employee) for all their hard work pulling the event together. CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST NALINI DAIRY
