Tartan is the new black

Henry Holland has gone tartan crazy this year, Agnes Dean wore a full length tartan dress which was layered; some would say it has resemblance to a four tiered wedding cake. Yet for Henry Holland standard I couldn't possible expect the ordinary! Tartan has been used everywhere, from trousers which have been rolled up to finish just above the ankle, and personally I think it looks fab, to the feminized version of the kilt which was worn at the waist. My favorite piece of his collection however, would have to be the huge tartan hats which had a large bobble attached to the top, although slightly inconvenient, and having to have a seat to its self, the sheer joy I would expect to have whilst wearing would be totally worth every penny.

Vivienne Westwood's fall collection also features tartan in the form of wrap around dress and having a more classic delicate feel to the clothing compared to Holland whose choice of colour in the tartan is a lot more playful and quite tongue and cheek. Maurizi Pecoraro's checked dress is very simple and lady back with the tartan being a lot less garish.

Tartan is most certainly the statement piece, team a cropped tartan jacket and simple black cigarette trousers together and you instantly have a great outfit, or if you'd rather be a little more subtle then a simple tartan belt would make you fashion queen at the office. However for the men out there I suggest the kilt. Whether or not you follow tradition concerning underwear is up to you, although it would never harm to give it a go, you may even like it!
