The scents are very sensual and this is mirrored in the sexy campaign and phallic packaging!

The description of each scent is a mixture of science and cryptic notes giving the products a mysterious edge.

Trying out the body creams you discover a range of smells that you want to carry around all day, my favourite is the ‘Intensely Intriguing’ scent that has an almost doughy element that’s subtly feminine.

Another product worth having a look at are the bath and shower products that smell divine! Such a great mixture of unisex smells.

A Short Interview with Daniel Vaudd

Why did you decide to create your own line in this climate?

Passion. Before creating the line, I was 22 and product development manager for a multimillion pound spa brand. Money, a great lifestyle and good prospects are never a substitute for waking up every morning doing what you love and believe in. The recession only served to fuel my need to make the brand succeed.

How long did it take for you to develop the collection?

Unlike conventional perfumers, after studying organic chemistry, I read Cosmetic Science to better understand the topical effects of ethereal oils on skin. On completion, I then trained in perfumery. To create works of art in scent requires dedication and years of training. Each creation has taken over a year to complete as I not only had to craft the scents but also the product formulation.

Why the Chypre?

The Chypre is simply the most refined and elegant style of perfume. It hides nothing, creates no fantasy and tell no lies. It is simply an extension of you, your desires and your intentions. It is for the individual who doesn’t need to transform; instead they transcend.

What was your inspiration for the Vaudd Affair Trilogy?

Love wanted, love experienced and love gained; it is inspired by the desire of ages – to be loved. Each creation is an accomplice and an embodiment of a basic instinct.

When I was discovering the world as a child, my back garden was a tropical rainforest, filled with exotic plants and wild animals; its colours, smells, sounds and textures shaped my view of the world. Caves, mosses and roots. Mystery and danger; it was my playground and home.

As I became curious about how topical elixirs interacted with the living skin, I realised that the study of Cosmetic Science would reveal the invisible subtleties of physical beauty and so embarked on four years of learning and experimentation.

Before completing my studies, I was offered an internship with one of the top three beauty conglomerates as a Colour Cosmetics Researcher. Then after graduating I worked as a Product Development Manager for a luxury spa brand before deciding to start my own business and create my own brand and product line.
