Ideal for trans-seasonal dressing, knitted tops are proving a must-have addition to any self-respecting fashionista’s wardrobe. Cropped styles and fresh new silhouettes in particular, are a welcome alternative to classic button-down cardigans which often appear on the high-street at this time of year.
Draped shapes with curved hems and shawl collars are directional in loosely structured pointelle-style knits aswell as heavier gauge variations. Extreme curved hems create the impression of a raglan sleeve-line as often only shoulders and sleeves are visible from the front of a garment. Neutral and earthy tones such as biscuit, mushroom and pistachio suit looser organic shapes.
Key knitwear detailing includes chunky ribbing and feature sleeves such as batwing or bishop styles. Sleeve lengths vary from short capped, half-, three-quarter and full-lengths. Sleeveless styles are also an option producing waistcoat-type effects. Neat bolero silhouettes with metallic edge-trims are hot, while cross-over knitted tops provide a nautical-edge to an outfit as seen at
Skinny dance-style cardigans are in keeping with fashions current vogue for all things athletic – dance tights, leggings, and legwarmers. Snug, beneath the bust fits are hot with one-button, broach or tie fastenings. Expect to see the trend moving towards crochet knitwear as summer approaches.
