The wide sharp shoulder pads took upon the catwalk again at Yves Saint Laurents Autumn/Winter collection, the models stomped down the catwalk wearing biker boot teamed with short tight dresses, power suits and tightly fitted high waisted skirts, proudly showing off their bodies and suggesting that everyone else follow in suit. Vivienne Westwood's Autumn/Winter collection was very similar to her previous ‘Pirates' collection in 81' and the ‘Punkature' collection in 83'. Striped tops and a play on the pirate hat was obvious as well as the repeated small ankle boots all giving a rough and ready look.

Kate Rodriguez 2008 fall, ready to wear collection saw tight black PVC leggings coming down the catwalk alongside power suit jackets with dangerously pointed shoulder and high waisted skirts with bright tights. The combination of power suits and punk worked well, and although I'm sure we won't see many suit jackets as pointy as the ones featured, a take on the look is more than likely, as well as the featured colour tights soon becoming a regular sight at the work place.

80's influence has also hit New York fashion week, Proenza Schouler's S/S09 collection saw thin waist belts, high waisted trousers and matching power suits. Mary-Kate Olsen and Nicole Ritchie have also been spotted wearing bra-cup tops in black leather; somewhat subtle resemblances to Madonna pointy bra worn in her video ‘just like a prayer' in 1989.
Isaac Mizrahi collection was subtle mix of neon shorts worn underneath high waisted tight skirts and sharp tailored power suits again with pointy shoulder. The shorts underneath the skirt or dress was a similar to the fashion statement which Madonna made and followed to sweep across school girls in the 1980's. Will it have the same impact this time running?
