LFW Sept 08 – John Rocha

15-09-2008

Today's shows kicked off with internationally acclaimed designer John Rocha. A veteran at LFW and having been in the industry for over 20 years I was certainly expecting great things.

A divine collection of contrasting femininity with masculinity and a distinctive use of textiles Rocha did not disappoint. Detailing was certainly key and this combined with simple lines, modern shapes and an exquisite array of materials made for an enchanting collection.

The colour palette of muted black, cream and off white gave a wonderfully classic feel which was then sharply injected with colour bolts of true blue, canary yellow and coral pink. Lace, raw silk, organza and summer weight tweeds were embellished, draped and ruffled paying homage to Rocha's love affair with textured fabrics and surface detail.

Structured silhouettes of lantern like shapes in coats, dresses and skirts created pretty new proportions. Jackets, vests and trousers were tailored to a slim androgyny, and countered with exquisite densely beaded torsos and backs.

Key pieces from this elegant collection included; an orange 1920's inspired ruffled mini dress, a blooming black mac and a royal blue ruffled structured dress. Simply stunning.
