Model Sanctuary

There has never been a better time to be a fashion model. Back in the day you were lucky to be offered a flaccid cheese and pickle sandwich come lunch time. Models eating? Surely not! These days, however, alongside fresh fruit and healthy snacks the BFC (British Fashion Council) have reserved a three bedroom suite in a central London hotel for catwalk models to chill out and recuperate between shows. Spearheaded by Erin O’Connor, who incidentally is the Vice Chairman of LFW, the Model Sanctuary is just one of the steps to improve working conditions for models in London.

Commenting on the Model Sanctuary Erin said: We felt the models needed a healthy space and that the need to focus on a healthy working environment for models was paramount. We wanted to increase access to health assessments and professional support, benefiting models in a way that will be useful to them in their careers. By providing this access the idea is to educate and empower models so they can make informed lifestyle choices of their own.”

Party Party

So far the PPQ after-party at Vendome, Piccadilly has got the fashion-pack reaching for the Nurofen. What with The Horrors kicking out the tunes it was a wall-to-wall boogie-fest for those that managed to get in.

Front Row Faces

The Geldolf girls and Alexa Chung have already been confirmed as LFW front row regulars. Elsewhere the flashbulbs have been snapping Jacquetta Wheeler, Rosamund Pike, Misha Barton and Laura Bailey to name but a few.

From On to Off  {mosimage}

We can’t believe On|Off is 10 seasons old already. To celebrate Lee Lapthorne and his team have created a retrospective exhibition and coffee table book – ‘Celebration 10 Seasons’. Filed with a collection of images, illustrations, photographs and quotes, with contributions from many of the designers, collaborators and champions who have supported On|Off. Features in the book include unique illustrations especially designed by Jasper Conran and Jean Charles de Castelbajac, never before seen photographs from behind the scenes and images from the most exciting catwalk shows during London Fashion Week.

On|Off founder and creative director Lee Lapthorne said of the book launch – “I am extremely proud that On|Off has succeeded with the support of so few to support so many. Thank you for 10 seasons!”
