07-10-2008

Ted Baker

Ted Baker is one of the few fashion labels to experience decent first half performance in this somewhat tricky trading climate reported on Thursday. Ted Baker's quirky brand power and successful multi-channel distribution strategy aids the persistent growth of the company resulting in excelling performances throughout its retail divisions with sales increasing 17.5% to £53.3million. Wholesale sales saw a 12.1% decrease to £18.3million however boosts in licensing income went up 26.1% to £2.9million.

Despite these troubles times, Ray Kelvin, Founder and Chief Executive is happy with his company's growth and relates it to careful international expansion and a positive initial response for Autumn/Winter collections. Not only have Ted Baker expanded overseas, its success has allowed the opening of two new branches in Liverpool and Bristol with the upcoming two new stores in Westfield, London. However Ted Baker is still wary of the economic state of affairs at present.

Notorious for his abstract sense of humor and attention to detail, Ted Baker has grown at a steady rate since the launch in 1988 as a shirt specialist in Glasgow into the global household brand name it is today with hundreds of its own retail distribution stores, concessions in leading department stores and niche independents throughout the globe.
