Just like Paris, Milan and other international fashion destinations Mumbai has become a fashion hub where various designers have their seasonal showcasing of their collection. This trend has become a part of the fashion scene in India thereby being marked on the international fashion map.

Though the western style of jeans and skirts seem to dominate the scene, the traditional salwar kameez, chudidar and sari, continue to be a primary theme of India's fashion. In fact, a new category of attire is created by the Indian designers, which is showcased as the indo-western line of clothing. In this collection the designer blends the dominant trend of the western world into the Indian dress.

But no matter what might be dominating the fashion industry, yet India has contributed the most gracious of garments in the form of the traditional sari. This is the signature of the true Indian woman. It is a garment that brings out the sensuality of Indian beauty. This versatile garment can be draped in different ways but when the world thinks of Indian Fashion it is certainly the picture of a woman in a sari that comes to mind enhancing the beauty. Even Cherie Blair and Liz Hurley think in the similar fashion thereby embracing the Indian attire.

Traditional Indian techniques of embroidery such as chikhan, crewel and zardosi, and traditional weaves and fabrics have been used by Indian designers to create Indo-western clothing in a fusion of the best of East and West.
