Faux or Fur
31-03-2009
Fur isn't to everyone's taste but you simply cannot fault faux fur; it attributes the excellent qualities of an authentic fur coat (without the ethical issues) and brings out the minx in all of us.
For that true fur aesthetic, opt for neutral tones; they compliment all types of women and make these coats easy to incorporate into almost any daytime or night-time look.

If you are a more exotic woman like Alexa Chung, or a daring fashionista with a predatory eye for the latest fashions; leopard print is the only way to go.
This bold and flirty pattern can work just as well within an outfit as it does as a statement coat, allowing you to flaunt your more primitive side.
With Faux Fur being available in varying styles it's no wonder that designers Blugirl and Michael Kors select bold tones and acid colours for their Fall RTW collections.
Derek Lam and TSE chose to go for the polar approach, providing brilliant white coats for us to sheath ourselves in.

Dennis Basso, J Mendel and Cynthia Steffe provide short sleeve alternatives to the thickset onslaught of the faux fur coat, with Jean Paul Gaultier displaying a rather raunchy style of sporting this week's trend.

The sun may be out and shining but that ever-present winter chill remains looming (for now), so flaunt your faux fur coat and make a statement this summer.
