Nicola Finetti RAFW 09/10

22-05-2009

A wearable and modern interpretation of Lempicka's work, with the use of architectural elements, cutouts and soft edged scalloping that gave the collection a modern and futuristic feel.

Personality and a sense of fun was explored with a cocktail of bold colours, bursts of blue, purple and orange satin dresses coordinated with oversized one shouldered peak statements which seemed to transpire throughout. And for the less brave, there were softer shades of champagne, sky blue and lilac that accompanied the asymmetrically cut knee length dresses, high waisted skirts teamed with softly tailored ruffled tops resulting in a feminine elegance.

Nicola

The strength of the collection came from the austere contrast and monochrome pieces of black and white beautifully crafted, sculpting the body to its best. Strong and powerful with angular boat necklines, origami like boxed shoulders, bucket pockets and dramatic panel lines strategically positioned to enhance and manipulate the silhouette giving the illusion of wider shoulders smaller waists and longer torsos.

Nicola

Alongside the satins and dupions it was nice to see a touch of the liquid wet look leather which added to the feel of  ‘now' and pushed the concept of a contemporary interpretation of Lempicka's work.

Finetti's polished and refined collection addressed his ability to liberate woman through expressing their individuality, femininity, strength and invention through silhouette and fabrication. A high-end collection constructed in an idealized fashion.
