GFW 09 – Ravensbourne
10-06-2009
Calum's collection of chunky knits, multi, ruffle, tiered cape and grey/metallic weaves was absolutely gorgeous. Creative enough to stand out, while not being too out there to comprehend, like other menswear collections this week.

Mehmet Ali continued the trend for good menswear with my favourite collection of the show.. Pastel tones of neutral, apricot and wine were shown off in beautiful layering. Suiting was well tailored, yet relaxed and long, draped, front cardigans and cord peg leg trousers mixed modern with traditional overtones.

Fah Chakshuvej continued the menswear, peg legs and they, by now, were really working for me. The collection, based in grey and accented with red, mustard and white was really cute and chic. I loved the grey/red checks, but more so, I adored the jumpers with little soldier prints running along them. A clever twist to modern tailoring.

Hannah Taylor closed the show with a comical selection of over sized, mens knitwear. Knee length jumpers, featured face cut outs and male models were hidden under 'phone jacker' style, pom-pom hats. In a rainbow of colours, this collection was totally outwear, but the creativity and the skill involved in such a project was evidently shown in a light hearted way.

All in all, Ravensbourne, was the place to be, to see the menswear finally blow the womenswear designers, out the water.
