Similar to the economic crisis in the 80’s, our society today seems to be mirroring the era in more than one way. Not only are we having financial chaos, but we are also trying to follow the trends of that decade. The strong willed and free spirited women of the 80s managed to present themselves through wearing strong shouldered and acid-coloured garments. Nowadays, you will forever see people that are trying so hard to be original, to find who they are and express themselves through fashion, just like this.

So why are the 80s back on our shelves again?

Well, the catwalks were full, at the prestigious New York Fashion Week, of shoulder padded jackets designed by the likes of Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan. Such designers intended to produce these 80s style garments for our long-awaited summer to brighten up everyone’s wardrobe and bring back our youthful selves.

These Neon-80s-Style Parties seem to be a popular theme to any night out and the shops seem to think the 80s trend is still at its peak. So I say, we haven’t had enough fun yet, we all need a bit of cheering up this year and the 80s theme seems to be the perfect remedy for the summer.
