When I heard about The Organic Pharmacy's Health Assessment I was really excited. As a migraine sufferer with a painkiller habit that keeps Boots afloat, I'm always on the lookout for tests, treatments, remedies (anything!) which might help to cure my frustrating head pains.

So what is the Health Assessment?

Essentially it's a really good look at what's going on in your body – both physically and mentally. A body scan tests for a number of things such organ function, toxicity, hormone levels, vitamin profile, as well as for food intolerances – an imbalance or weakness could explain why you may be feeling let's say, tired or bloated (or in my case, head challenged!).

The assessment also includes a homeopathic consultation and a tailored program of supplements and actions to get you back on track.

So what did I learn?

I have to admit the results bit was initially nerve-wracking (in that kind of tarot card way) but then really fascinating. I fared pretty well in most of the tests, however, there were a couple of imbalances which could well explain my migraines.

And what about food intolerances?

Wow – so many! And so many that I eat in abundance – such as seafood. The next heartbreaking step is to cut these out from my diet and see how it effects my headaches.

I'm also trying out a homeopathic remedy I was prescribed after the test results – it's the first time I'm dabbling with non ‘traditional' medicine, so I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
