Peep

28-09-2009

In fashion terms there’s the practical and then there’s the purely visual; you know those pieces that look great but have no functionality what-so-ever. Take my latest obsession with large chunky necklaces – they certainly make a visual impact but offer nothing more bar neck strain. It is such items that can divide public opinion straight down the middle; while some think the piece is rather cool others think it frivolous and well, a bit silly.

Falling somewhere in-between is the latest trend du rigour; the peep-toe ankle boot mainly of the high-heeled, platform variety. Much favoured by Editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld and spied aplenty on the Autumn/Winter catwalks you’ll find a plethora of copy-cat styles on the high street from the likes of Office, Kurt Geiger and Aldo.

No flash-in-the-pan either this trend is set to continue into Spring/Summer check out the satin bow versions seen at the latest Matthew Williamson show. Looking good but damp, frosty toes come winter will really test how far one will go in the name of fashion!
