‘STITCH IN TIME’ supports The Bridge New deal !
29-09-2009
This fantastic event was set up in order to help give the unemployed members of Haringey the amazing opportunity of enrolling on the course, thus providing them with the necessary skills and experience needed to land a job role within the fashion industry or even more fantastically help them set up there own clothing label!

The Course was in great demand over 300 people came through the doors, this could be due to the Town Crier who was walking along in front of the Bernie Grant Centre ‘proclaiming’ the event it was simply spectacular.
Potential designers, Students, individuals with an interest in fashion and in fact people who just want to try something new were queuing to ensure they grabbed the limited spaces that were available!
The atmosphere was electric, every one was so passionate and driven! The Jobs&Training exhibition helped portray that even though we are in a recession and job opportunities are rare, Its important that everyone’s morale remains positive, especially with great courses like ours on offer to the unemployed!!
If you are reading this thinking that you want to fill one of the much sought after spaces, and are unemployed or working under 16 hours a week and living in the Haringey area, please contact me on: Maxine@fashion-enter.com or telephone the Workshop on: 0208 800 9979
Two of our talented students who are attending the Stitch in Time course (Youthlee Henry and Shirley James) also came down and offered there support and advice to the prospective students and displayed their designs, which was a great opportunity for them to hear the positive inspiring comments.
The Jobs fair had several important members attending to offer their support to the Bridge New Deal, which seeks to find jobs and training for all the unemployed members of Haringey.
I personally would like to give a huge thanks to Geoff Hollett (Theme Manager Education, Employment and Enterprise) and George Tsintas (Regeneration Co-ordinator (Employment & Skills for Haringey Council) without whom our project “ Stitch in Time” would not be what it is today, They have given constant help and support and continue to help to date . So again a huge thanks from all at Fashion Enter LTD.
A local celebrity was also present Haringey MP David Lammy, he came down to offer his support and qouted that he ‘ensures to help people in this very difficult time”.
I was fortunate enough to have the chance to speak with the local MP and he was thoroughly impressed and inspired with the “Stitch in time” course and in fact I even slipped him my business card and invited him down…. He accepted the offer so watch this space fashionistas’ as wthe students on our Stitch in Time course could soon be designing his next shirt or tie !
Overall the day was extremely enjoyable and productive and I can not stress enough, If you are residing in the Haringey area and currently unemployed give me a quick call or drop me an E-mail to start living the fashion dream.
You may see yourselve as the next Vivienne Westwood or being the next top pattern maker for the top designers …..what ever the dream get in contact so we can make it happen!
