How Much More?
10-11-2010
There has been a lot of discussion on the television, news and radio concerning this rise we are due to face and how public spending will be affected. Personally all this information given to me just sounds like, “blah, blah, blah”, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
The main question I wanted to know is how much is this going to affect my purse?
Looking online through all the jargon of websites attempting to explain how I am going to be affected, I did mange to find one place that spelt out exactly how much more I will be paying when the increase comes into action.
Basically if I went to New Look and bought myself a trendy new top for about £14.99, in January this would cost me £15.31. That’s 32p difference. I know 32p doesn’t quite sound a lot but all those pennies will eventually add up to pounds.
Most major retailers are going to have to increase their product prices to accommodate the VAT rise in January, but these prices could continue to increase while retailers adjust to the change.
So try to watch those extra pennies when the VAT rise kicks in, and also if you want to compare what the price difference will be on some of the products you buy, check out the website: www.bbc.co.uk/news/10373992
This website a has calculator that will do all the working out for you and let you know just how much you can expect to be paying after the 4th January 2011.
