NYFW: One’s to Watch Hellessy & Alice McCall AW 18/19


Two upcoming designers, Hellessy and Alice McCall were featured amid the openings days of New York Fashion Week, equally creating an air of sophistication and an eye-catching creativity that stood out amid a schedule of top industry influencers for Autumn/Winter 2018…


A collection rich with optimism and attention-grabbing details, Hellessy injected a bevvy of rich textures, jewel tones and bold silhouettes into her Autumn/Winter 2018 line. Drawing inspiration from interior extraordinaire Tony Duquette’s regency styling’s, Hellessy’s creative director Sylvie Millstein executed a high-end opulence with bright plush tones including pink agate, ruby red and yellow topaz with sumptuous tactile textures and fluid designs, which radiated a strong sense of self.

Off-shoulder draped dresses, embellished cropped trousers and asymmetric tops featured an artful amalgam of ruffles, floral appliqués and cut-out details. A zeitgeist of all that is regal shone beautifully, additionally featuring flurries of voluminous sleeves, glossy accents, and feminine ruffles, simultaneously imbuing a laid back athletic aesthetic. The collection unquestionably championed the philosophy of “more is more”, illustrating creative styling options enough to excite any woman.

Alice McCall 

Designed to be unapologetically noticed, Alice McCall’s Autumn/Winter 2018 ready-to-wear collection goes by the title of ‘In Lightness’, which illuminates life. Illustrating a free spirit that evokes a softly spoken, albeit delightfully unexpected vision, delicate blush hues convey the collection’s foundations that are made up of lively instalments of fuchsia, cobalt and canary yellow scattered throughout.

Emitting an air of effortless femininity, a series of billowing blouses, diaphanous fabrications and botanical prints contribute to the awe-inspiring buoyant essence. Fly away sheers, floaty chiffons and flamboyant frills decorate ethereal dresses, sexy see-through lace tops and dramatic flamenco skirts. McCall’s latest sartorial assortment additionally sees a dichotomy of modern tailoring, retro styling and exotic prints. Her finale of colourful metallic and elaborately voluminous silhouettes evokes a striking sense of performance that instils a dynamic gaze.
