- Packaging & Labelling
The packaging and labelling is an important element in creating a graphic and physical design of the brand. The creation of a visual representation used within labelling and packaging is powerful at creating a memorable image with consumers. Packaging and labelling is a form of branding, creating a name, logo or trademark, etc., that will be associated with a product.
- Website
Having an online websites is a way for consumers to connect with the brand. It allows viewers to browse over the latest products and information online, as well as examining the background and history of the company. An online presence will also give you the option to sell online, provide contact details and promote your products.
- Press/PR
Press/PR has the use of creating or maintaining a public image of a brand or product in the industry. It has the potential to attract new consumers, increase sales and develop the company image. Sending out press releases or arranging an event is an example of attracting Press/PR, but it is also important to consider what form of media coverage is most suitable for your brand or products, as it will alter depending on your target consumer.
- Selling
A small sample of garments may be sold onto retailers to test the selling strength of a new collection in order to gain feedback before committing to larger order. This process can also help with your own market research to examine how consumer feel and respond to products.
- Confidentiality Agreement
A confidentiality agreement is used to prevent staff, employees or other members who may be able to share company designs or ideas to outside parties. If the agreement is violated by an individual who has agreed not to disclose protected information legal action may be pursed.
- Market Research
Market research is used to gather feedback on new products before selling. Allowing a group of target consumers to sample and view a new product will give you a chance to gain an insight into their views of the design, quality and pricing so that modifications can be made. This stage helps to ensure that new products launched into the market place are successful.
- Photo Shoot
A photo shoot is generally arranged once the construction of the garments is completed and finishing touches have been made. By capturing the items in a shoot, it not only gives the brand a visual catalogue of the designs, but can be used on a website to advertise the latest products, added to press releases and included in a look book. The styling of the photo shoot can strongly demonstrate the trend direction taken and can be as elaborate and creative as possible if desired.
- Look Book
A look book is similar to a portfolio, but shows the latest product line rather than a history of work. It provides a visual aide of the collection, demonstrating the mood, inspiration and theme of the products created. Look books can also be uploaded onto the company website to advertise the latest product line to customers as well as being shown to buyers alongside the actual collection.
- Agents
A fashion agent’s role is to help connect buyers to designers. A fashion agent may be hired, where they will store designers collections for buyers to come and view and make purchase; some will also provide PR services. The agent will take a commission for this service, but it can help raise the designers profile in the industry.
