This week (16th February 2022) Fashion Technology Academy (Leicester) embarked on a program to deliver the Level 1 Award in Workers’ Rights and Labour Exploitation to its first cohort of factory workers. This is part of the Community Renewal Fund (CRF) which is being funded by the UK Government.
Fashion-Enter were asked by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA) to pilot the Workers’ Rights program and the first factory to enrol was Onyx Fashion Ltd a key supplier to the online fashion brand ‘I SAW IT FIRST’.
The SEG Awards ABC Level 1 Award in Workers’ Rights and Labour Exploitation has been developed to raise awareness of the basic employment rights provided by UK law.
Learners will gain an understanding of the job application process and how to spot if an advertisement is genuine or not. They will also gain the tools to enable them to understand whether or not they, or a colleague, are being exploited and the process for how this should be reported.

Fashion-Enter Ltd Production Director, Caroline added: “The group were fantastic. Really Enthusiastic. It was a pleasure delivering this course.”
