Overall purpose of the job
To facilitate production processes and assist the Production Manager.
As Production Assistant you require strong sourcing and logistics skills, a sound grasp of fashion production processes, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You should have a keen interest in garment production and be willing to learn about production planning, critical path management and liaising with colleagues that are often based in international factories.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Checking and scanning information on official production orders,
Ordering garment components such as labels and ensuring the stock of components is always satisfactory
Confirming received components against the PO and delivery notes
Marking and logging fabric deliveries
Producing labels for finished production (box labels) in preparation of export
Preparing delivery notes for samples and components
Invoice processing via Edwards Accountants
Prepare and follow through dispatch of bulk swatches to customers for approval
Responsible for sending lab dips to clients
Any other duties as required by your line Manager
Job Requirements
Entering the industry as a Production Assistant you can take on an apprentice position which will provide you with relevant hands on knowldge and experience whilst also training for a qualification.
Opportunities
There are often opportunities to progress onto managament. Apprentices usually start off by gaining experience within materials management, inventory control, configuration analysis, production control and purchasing management before moving on to become shift manager or supervisor. It really depends on your personal motivation and interest, in which career path you pursue after getting this position.
