Why Make in the UK – N17 Creative Callings – Wednesday 14th April 2pm – 5pm
In this three-hour masterclass Make it British founder Kate Hills will join Fashion-Enter CEO Jenny Holloway in a discussion on why garment manufacturing in the UK is the way forward, and how small brands can work effectively with factories.
Kate Hills is on a one-woman mission to save UK manufacturing!
With a background in working for several large brands and retailers in design and buying roles, she gave up her corporate career to set up Make it British as a way of supporting UK manufacturers and those companies that wanted to make in the UK.
Make it British acts as a platform to promote UK-made brands and manufacturers and aims to raise awareness of all of the fantastic manufacturing that still takes place in Britain.
The agenda includes:
14.00 – 14.10 – Introduction and welcome – Jenny Holloway.
14.10 – 14.40 – Meet Kate Hills – Kate will talk about her background as a designer and buyer, and how she founded Make it British in 2011 as a way of supporting British manufacturers.
14.40 – 15.45 – In conversation with – Kate and Jenny will discuss the benefits of making in the UK, the barriers and how to overcome them and top tips for finding and working with a manufacturer.
15.45 – 16.00 – Coffee break.
16.00 – 17.00 – Panel discussion and question and answers.
