A Fashion First for Croydon
January 19, 2025 - January 19, 2025
Kate Moss and John Galliano are just two of the names that spring to mind when you start talking about famous icons heralding from the Croydon area.
So it is perhaps a bit of a surprise that June will see the launch of Croydon’s first ever official Fashion Festival.
In concurrence with the festival will be the return of FashionCapitals ”˜The Face of Croydon’ modelling competition. Already taking the borough by storm the final will take place during Croydon Fashion Festival on 21st June.
“If Croydon is serious about being London’s third city then this is an excellent way to start,” said Wayne Hemmingway, Designer and founder of legendary label Red or Dead. “The first ever fashion extravaganza in these parts will help inspire thousands of youngsters throughout the borough.”
Croydon Fashion Festival promises to be a big hit with local audiences. A series of catwalk shows, exhibitions and other special events will get underway on the 16th June and run on till the 22nd.
The event is being hosted by the Croydon BID (Business Improvement District) team, a business led intiative for Central Croydon. The Fashion Festival will be working closely with Croydon College, particularly in relation to the catwalk shows, workshops and seminars, assisting the students to gain valuable exposure, skills and knowledge.
There is 1.9million sq ft of retail space in the town centre alone, making it a natural choice for a large scale fashion event. The Festival has the backing of all the major shopping centres in the area, including Allders, Whitgift and Centrale.
With a big line up planned, and expert advice from top industry professionals already in place, Croydon’s first ever fashion extravaganza is certain to create quite a buzz around town.
