Quality Sampling and Production Made Easy
Are you ready to take your design ideas off the page and start sampling and production? In these two short YouTube interviews we hear from Tunde Musa from Eustace Designs, and Mark Francis and his brand Heron’s Ghyll, talk about their business concepts and how the Fashion Studio, based at the Factory, has supported and provided their expertise to bring their garments to life.
Tunde said: “Our products stand out from the competition because of the craftsmanship here at Fashion-Enter.”
The Fashion Studio can stitch any product including tailoring, haute couture, wedding dresses, promotional garments, lingerie, swimwear and theatre costume garments.

Congratulations Leicester Learners
Today, 9th August, the FTA Leicester held a celebration and certificate presentation with Councillor Adam Clarke for learners that have completed their course with the FTA.
Over the last 6-months FCFTA Leicester has supported 65 people achieve 138 qualifications.
These span Level 1 & 2 Stitching, Level 1 & 2 Patterns and Level 1 Workers Rights and Labour Exploitation.
Leicester has a diverse culture and it’s incredible to support those in the local community gain new skills, employment and reach their potential.
Thanks to Leicester City Council for their support through the UK Community Renewal Fund.
Start Upcycling This Secondhand September
Thanks to Islington Council from Tuesday 12th September the FC Designer Collective shop on Fonthill Road will be hosting free, drop-in, upcycling and repair sessions on a monthly basis. All are welcome to pop by between 9am – 5pm to try out upcycling ideas with advice and support from our friendly team. The shop is equipped with machines, threads and trims, so dig out those unworn items and come and join us!
Tuesday 12th September at FC Designer Collective, 113 – 115 Fonthill Road, London N4 close to Finsbury Park tube station.
Calling All Islington Upcycler’s!
This Friday 11th the FC Designer Workspace will be holding its popular monthly Repair & Upcycling Workshop. However, this time attendees will have the chance to enter a competition with their upcycled designs.
Fashions Finest & Cancer Research Islington have collaborated on an upcycling competition that closes on the 16th August. Donated items from the Cancer Research shop have been sent to the FC Designer Workspace so that attendees can get creative using secondhand items.
To enter, participants need to create an upcycled outfit, which will be either a dress or top & bottom, this will then need to be posted on Instagram.

The winner will receive tickets for the Fashions Finest show and their outfit will be showcased in the Cancer Research store in Islington
The Next Free Masterclass
Our last business support masterclass with CEO Jenny Holloway, held on 2nd August, on creating a successful business plan gained a great amount of positive feedback. So much so that attendees have already signed up for the next free support session. The next session is on Mastering the Fashion Business Blueprint: Fine-tuning your plan for success and takes place 10 – 11am on 30th August.
Final Places for the 1 Day Tote Bag Making Course
Tutors have been busy at the FC Designer Workspace this week teaching the fully-booked 4-day Pattern Cutting course. The demand and feedback from these short courses has been excellent at both the Islington and Leicester campuses, so more will be scheduled throughout the year.
We have a few places remaining for our final summer short course at the Workspace in Islington. This will be the 1-day Reversible Tote Bag Making course on Tuesday 22nd August. This stitching introduction is a brilliant way to use up scrap fabrics or old clothing items and to practice using the machines. The 1-day session costs just £22 inc VAT and attendees will leave with a useful, reusable tote bag. Tap the link to book your place.
