Fashion Week Events
As New York Fashion Week draws to a close London is poised to begin tomorrow, 12th September, and for the first time a selection of shows and events will be open to the public. The FashionCapital team will be on hand to review the highlights including those involved with the Positive Fashion platform and eco and sustainable fashion brand VIN + OMI with their latest collection created from textiles made with nettles.
As a part of Fashion Week we will be involved in the following events:
Fashions Finest – Saturday 14th September
Members of the Fashion Enter team will be available at the designer showcase Fashions Finest. Visit the Fashion Enter stand to find out all about the courses, sampling and production services that we provide. Throughout the day there will be catwalk shows presenting new talent as well as industry talks and various exhibitors.

Wings4Fashion Pitch Your Fashion Business – Saturday 14th September
FatakaFashions.com is hosting a pitching session, as a part of two-day Wings4Fashion event on 14th September 2019. Pitch your fashion business to an elite panel of investors and fashion industry experts, including our very own CEO Jenny Holloway.
FatakaFashions.com’s mission is to provide everything a fashion designer or a brand would need to succeed in the fashion industry. Community Event – Hidden River Festival
Esme, Education & Learning Operations Manager, meanwhile will be at the annual Hidden River Festival a free community event open to all in the area of Woodberry Down, Hackney and Haringey. Along with all the music, performances, food, sports and workshops Esme will be on-hand to offer advice on all the training and opportunities that Fashion Enter and the FTA provides, plus visitors to her stand can get creative with colour-in clutch bags and the annual design competition.

#secondhandseptember – Repair, Remake, Recycle
Being able to sew is a brilliant life skill that we should all embrace. Being able to repair a rip, hem a skirt or even rework an old garment into something new gives clothing a longer lease of life and therefore benefits the environment. In the spirit of #secondhandseptember we are holding 3 morning Saturday Pattern and Stitch classes that will take you from novice to knowledgeable – in just three sessions you will be able to understand how to create and stitch a garment. Retail Defined: You Must Change or You Will Die
As a part of our intensive 1-day Retail Defined workshop aimed at CEO’s, attendees will receive a complimentary copy of ‘Strat to Action’ – The KAIZEN method for turning Strategy into Action by Alberto Bastos & Charlie Sharman. Proving Essential Training & Employment Opportunities
We have recently been working with Irina Bormotova, Senior Employment Advisor at Elevate / Groundwork London, an employment support organisation for refugees. Irina introduced us to Abdul and he came in for a trial at the Fashion Studio earlier this month, which resulted in employment.
Jenny Holloway comments: “As soon as we met Abdul we knew he would fit perfectly into our team. He is a kind, genuine and humble man who is incredibly skilled in garment manufacturing. His future is now secure with us and we thank Irina for all her support too.”
News from In-House Label Belles of London
Belles of London will be exhibiting at the Wings4Fashion 2-day event this weekend at the Montcalm Hotel alongside other up and coming designers and fashion businesses.

Fashion Brand Bootcamp – 21st September
On Saturday 21st September FashionCapital is providing a one-day masterclass with industry experts that have been through the real highs and lows of running a brand. From 10am to 4pm we will get you and your fashion brand ready with our six industry experts. The bootcamp will cover each key area of business including; developing your collection and your brands signature, supply chain and logistics, sampling and production, sales and promotion, understanding costs and keeping on budget, along with how to keep yourself motivated and positive. Attendees can pre-book one-to-one 20-minute sessions with one of the industry professionals at the end of the session.
How to Realise Your Goals with Life & Business Coach Eric Gilston 26th September
Life and Business coach Eric Gilston has committed to an on-going programme with us, his masterclasses are free and including: How to Realise Your Goals’ Professionally and Personally on the 26th September 11am – 1pm. TR Pattern Cutting for Beginners – 28th September
Our popular TR Pattern Cutting taster masterclass with the ‘Queen of seams’ Claudette Joseph is back with another instalment on Saturday 28th September at the Fashion Technology Academy. The three-hour session introduces learners to the TR pattern cutting technique, a form of origami pattern cutting which translates into immediate and intuitive 3D creations, in opposition to the more conventional way of drafting.
