Happy Jubilee Bank Holiday!
This week the UK will celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a 4-day bank holiday weekend. Her Majesty The Queen is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service! At Fashion-Enter HQ in Haringey the team will kick start the celebrations with a BBQ this evening.

Here, Divya’s (from FCFTA Leicester) husband, Vijayendra Kamath, has captured Her Majesty beautifully in this commemorative oil painting.

GLAA Certificate Presentation

Next week on the 8th June we welcome Elysia McCaffrey, Chief Executive Officer GLAA (Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority); Frank Hanson, Head of Prevention and Partnerships GLAA ; Paul Eeles CEO SEG and Kaye Jackson Head of Relationship Management SEG to deliver accredited Workers’ Rights and Labour Exploitation certificates.
As part of the Community Renewal Fund, FCFTA Leicester have been working with local businesses and communities to deliver accredited Workers’ Rights and Labour Exploitation qualifications. This event is to celebrate the great achievement of the individuals and businesses and for the key partners SEG, GLAA and FCFTA to present the certificates to the learners.

GLAA Head of Prevention and Partnerships Frank Hanson said: “These are some of the first workers to complete the qualification since it was launched following a successful pilot project last year. For many, this is the first qualification that they have gained in their lifetime which makes it all the more important.
“The Level 1 Award is so crucial in giving people the tools to improve their knowledge about workers’ rights and to build that community resilience to the threat of labour exploitation which is vital in cities such as Leicester.”

Mental Health Support
The pandemic has highlighted elevated concerns over personal mental health over the last two years. At Fashion-Enter Ltd (FEL) the team understands the importance of mental health and the wellbeing of employees/students and currently has staff members qualified in Level 2 Counselling and Mental Health First Aid.

FEL Pattern Cutting tutor Lan (pictured on the left with her students) has just completed a 2-day Mental Health course with Mind and is now a Mental Health First Aider at Fashion-Enter.
Lan said: “Being a Mental Health First Aider means I am able to help and offer support to a person developing a mental health issue, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health issue, or in a mental heath crisis until appropriate professional help is received. The course enables me to spot early signs of a mental health issue, how to offer and provide initial help, and guide a person towards appropriate professional and other sources of supportive help.”
