Westfield Workshop Success
Members of the FEL team had a great time at the Westfield Good Festival last week. FEL’s workshop sessions were available at both Westfield centres in White City and Stratford, and the feedback from both was brilliant.
CEO Jenny Holloway commented: “FEL’s two-day involvement at Westfield in Stratford and White City proved to be extremely popular, for all ages. At the Stratford centre the workshops were particularly busy for parents and their children, so it was great to see multi-generations sewing and upcycling garments.
“Without blowing our own trumpet our stands were continuously full and we were delighted to be able to recycle some garments that we had left over from previous production. This event was completely in line with our ethos on sustainability, where nothing goes to waste.”
Next Up…Drapers Future of Fashion
This Thursday 8th June FEL CEO Jenny Holloway will join the Drapers Future of Fashion event, where 30+ industry leaders will discuss the topic of “innovating for a new era”.

Credit to N Brown – Repurpose Not Dispose
Today, 7th June, we are taking a collection of almost 3,000 men’s shirts from Jacamo to reduce the sleeves down from long sleeve to shirt sleeve. How impressive that a leading retailer cares about not contributing to landfill and also provides Fashion-Enter with work for the machinists! Let’s hope more retailers follow this example.
Magnanimity in Defeat!
We heard on Friday 3rd June that we were not successful with the Welsh NHS bid for the £4m nurses uniform order.
The contract was awarded to Alsico Workwear supplier and this is with Elite Clothing that is fortunately based in Wales, a social enterprise that employs people with disabilities.
Jenny commented: “We are of course upset that FEL Wales did not receive the contract but we are pleased that a Welsh company is part of the bid. I do honestly wonder how many garments will be made in Wales! Alsico is making in 11 countries worldwide.
“If the contract had gone to FEL Wales then everything would be proudly Welsh manufactured safeguarding all the jobs and creating more jobs too. How can the Welsh Government continually say how green and sustainable they are? This now enforces an inevitable restructure for us – it’s heavy on the heart.”
At FEL Today
We have Style 3D on site today, as well as our patron Lord Young of Norwood Green, more on this in due course.
