London Menswear Week – 15th June 2012 – Topman

Ronnie Wood embraced both Harold Tilman and Philip Green before taking a seat opposite Nick Grimshaw, Alexa Chung, David Gandy and Reggie Yates.

The show, a fuse of sporty tailoring, 80’s colour clash and trendy city boy chic was sharp cohesive and very fun.
The collection started with city short suiting in grey and salmon pink checks before flowing into graffiti floral print macs and bomber jackets in blue, yellow and pink tones. There were rebellious undertones to the look with city boys sporting lycra cycling shorts, oversized back packs, flouro beenies and skate boards, evidently showing they were still young at heart.

Distorted stripe prints and gradual colour stripes fused from pink to orange in slouchy knit sweaters that were incredibly androgynous added a softer spring vibe to the look. The collection got louder with hot pink and turquoise short suits with perforated jackets the wide shoulders again reflected the 80’s vibe. While skating was definitely the look of the day, basketball style tees with sports shorts came in red, white and blue with several slightly cripped varieties but whether boys will be tempted to bare their midriffs remains to be seen. One of my favourite Topman shows in a long time!
