22-05-2013
Q How did your fashion career begin and what attracted you to the trade show sector?
As a graduate of EFAP(1994), I made my mark in the public relations world by working for some of fashion’s biggest designers: Jean-Paul Gaultier, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Atsuro Tayama, and still Torrente Haute Couture. Maintaining my craft through poise and passion, my philosophy is curbed via matching opportunities to the untapped landscapes that wait abroad.
In 1998, I joined the trade show ‘Who’s Next’ as Sales Manager where I created a “fresh” universe dedicated to young designers. Shortly after, I became the Director of Exhibitions for the notable ‘Prêt-à-Porter Paris’ tradeshow in Paris, Tokyo and New York until 2011 including the creation of the‘ Box’ tradeshow.
Q You now run a consulting agency tell us a bit about that and how you juggle various projects.
I’m International Creative Consultant specializing in fashion counseling, public relations, and global development. Launched in 2012, Muriel Piaser Consulting is the latest platform for offering my services to international fashion brands. As the Ambassador of Tranoi Preview, I also maintain a key position in the success of countless Parisian fashion fairs. Spearheaded by communication savvy and public influence, my expert eye for trends and talent is key for landing universal concepts into the minds of a thriving generation.
Q Many emerging designers often say that getting an appointment with the right buyer can be extremely difficult – what advice would you give them?
I would advise them to do their own right and targeted sales & marketing strategy to emphasize their business with strong basis. They will find their market if their criterias are clear and structured.
Q Fashion is all around us; do you agree that to be successful in this industry you have to live, eat, breathe and look fashion?
Not specially, to be passionnate yes, for sure, because it’s hard to combine all criteria to succeed but specifically, you have to work hard, to learn and listen to professionnal leaders opinions, to be patient and to organise a real strategy and to compile a business strategy.
Q The accessories market is growing despite the tough economy do you have a few new accessory designers exhibiting that you would like to mention?
I’m proud of the success knowing with THE BOX surfing in 2006 on the wave of High fantasy new gen. They know cleverly mixing good products, creativity with a good price and strong marketing. My positive examples of success stories in accessories are famous brands now : 5 OCTOBRE, MONSIEUR PARIS, FEIDT, IMAI, JACQUIE AICHE, PASCALE MONVOISIN. All of these brands exhibit at TRANOI tradeshow, unavoidable steps in their business development.
Q Finally, do you have any future project collaborations that you would like to tell us about?
All of my new fashion consulting missions are a challenge for me everyday, my job is my passion! At this moment, I’m very happy and honored to work with my new project TRANOI PREVIEW and specifically Mr Armand Hadida, his vision is mine. I like to anticipate the new market and new talent – this is why I’m very involved in this project which completely corresponds and evolves to the needs of the emerging market.
Thank you Muriel Paiser
