The Hottest New Accessories Trends for 2019
Fashion moves fast, so fast in fact, that you might feel you haven’t had a chance to catch up in the last 10 years. However, that’s just the way it is: get on board or be stuck on the platform! Accessories are switched up at a blistering pace, but here at FashionCapital, we can easily separate what’s a fad and what’s a genuinely cool. Here are some accessories trends that you need to stay aware of in 2019.
Big – and we mean big – Sunglasses
Tiny sunglasses are gone, long live big sunglasses! Last year was all about frames that perched neatly on the front of your nose and barely shielded your eyes, but in 2019? You can cover up your face and then some. Big sunglasses have so much more room for creativity and expression, plus, you can cover up puffy eyes from a big night out! We’ve already seen Rihanna pull these off recently, with Gucci, Miu Miu, Christian Dior, and Prada all getting in on the action. You’ll get the same vibe with these irregular sunglasses, which are just about crazy enough to work.
Bum Bag Makeover
In a fun 90s revival, bum bags (or fanny packs) came back with an exclamation mark in 2018. However, smart fashion houses have clearly seen the renewed interest has a lot of potential for new accessories, which is why the new belt bag has arrived. Sleeker, trendier, and cooler than a fanny pack, the new belt bags use fine metals and premium leather, something that Burberry has been perfecting in the last few months. More convenient than a handbag or purse for a night out, belt bags are here to stay.
Wear All the Necklaces
It appears as if there is no time for small, slender necklaces… you have to go for large necklaces with big pendants and beads, as Chanel and Alexander McQueen have been going down this route of late. Another option is to wear multiple necklaces, say 4-5 at a time. The effect of so much glittering jewellery is quite a sight to behold, and it makes the choice of what necklace to wear a lot easier: just wear all of them!
Shoes with an extra thick heel are most definitely in trend for 2019. It seems that the bigger, the better, when it comes to shoes. Both Saint Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana have released heels with a bit “extra”, which is certainly good news if you want to feel much, much taller. Walking with such big platforms might prove tricky for some, but if you can pull it off, then more power to you.
