Welcome back to your weekly instalment of what’s been happening in the world of fashion over the past seven days! From actress Kate Hudson launching her own eco-friendly fashion line to Moschino unveiling their latest collection inspired by The Sims and Kenzo introducing a debut eyewear line, it’s been a very busy week…
Kate Hudson’s Latest Fashion Venture
The original co-founder of activewear brand Fabletics, actress Kate Hudson has turned her creative attention to womenswear, presenting an environmentally-friendly fashion line that juxtaposes the “best of boho sophistication with a natural feel.”
Entitled HappyxNature, the collection equates to a love story, encapsulating a passion for nature and all things natural. Sustainable materials are applied throughout the collection, from dresses and tops designed in laundered cottons, cotton voiles and cotton flax amalgamated with recycled and organic fabrics to jeans constructed from crushed recycled plastic bottles. The way the clothes are manufactured and even the bio-degradable shipping bags have undergone an ethical journey! Collection available online only.
Moschino Collection Inspired by The Sims
Moschino’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott has extracted inspiration via the classic life simulation video game The Sims for his latest collection, comprising eight limited-edition pieces. Launched April 13, Scott, who gives a frequent nod to pop culture icons amid his lines, has included a Uni-Lama T-shirt, a Freezer Bunny mobile phone case and a Plumbob swimsuit emblazoned with iconic motifs from The Sims throughout his line.
Kenzo Looks to Eyewear
In collaboration with Thélios, the joint venture between LVMH and Marcolin, Kenzo has showcased its debut eyewear collection. Intending to portray the brand’s “high energy and fun roots”, the line of eye frames purposes to reflect the fashion house’s Kenzotopia concept for Spring/Summer 2019. With vibrant colours which echo the label’s ready-to-wear collection, the glasses further capture Kenzo’s infusion of “Parisian confidence and California cool. Heart-shape, cat-eye, round shape and even goggle-effect frames are just some of the standout styles that feature, which additionally see futuristic influences that are indicative of sci-fi movies.
