11-05-2022

On Tuesday 10th May Cllr Adam Clarke, Leicester’s Deputy City Mayor, presented certificates to the first and second cohorts of learners at the FC Fashion Technology Academy (Leicester).

The 20 learners completed their Level 1 Stitching qualification gaining an accredited SEG Level 1 award in fashion and textiles. This is a 6-week course where learners gain the fundamentals of using a variety of industrial sewing machines safely.

The course provides a great introduction into garment and textiles and has been provided for free through funding via the Community Renewal Fund. There is a vibrant textile manufacturing hub in the heart of Leicester and this course addresses the ongoing skills that are in-demand by employers in the area.

FCFTA (Leicester) manager Jackie said: “It’s been great to see our learners qualify, we have 45 learners on Level 1 stitching that  have now either completed or enrolled on the course. It’s great to see these students grow in confidence as they progress through the course. Today really was a great way to celebrate these fantastic learners.”

The FCFTA (Leicester) has now supported 45 learners with this course and are currently enrolling for the next cohort. To enrol please contact Jackie at FCFTA Leicester on 0116 4362560 or email: Education@fashion-enter.com
